A Caffeinated Opinion

Wolf Weekly 9/8: Opinion

A lot of people drink coffee in the morning, more specifically it is estimated that around 60%  of the population does. I am not in that majority though, since I have never had any type of caffeinated beverage…until now.

I’ve never fully understood coffee, most likely because no one in my family drinks coffee either. If my family ever drinks a caffeinated beverage, it’s soda or an energy drink. I know a good amount of people who do drink coffee in the morning, but I’ve never been encouraged to try any.

For me, the look of a lot of coffees pushes me away. I’ve seen people drink black coffee, and it just doesn’t look right to me. The smell of most coffees is not very pleasant, either.

I decided to go to Starbucks to try out my first drink because I have heard that it’s great for beginners of coffee. I ordered a Vanilla Frappuccino with added caffeine to make it a coffee. I would be curious to try something like black coffee in the future, but definitely not as my first try.

The Frappuccino had a sweet, vanilla taste with some whip cream on the top. It tasted good at first, until the caffeine beans hit me. The aftertaste is definitely something that I hated, but the overall vanilla taste did make up for it.

Overall, if I had it again, I wouldn’t get it without the caffeine beans, since that was an option. I can see why people drink coffee now though, since I was pretty aware and awake the rest of the day. It’s definitely not my thing, but now I understand why people drink it.
