Nick Kure
Kitchen Manager
What is your favorite memory?
Last year, one of the administrators came down and said that they had heard some students comment on how the atmosphere in the kitchen was really positive. I am glad to hear that you guys are enjoying your experience with us.
What does an average day look like for you?
I get here in the morning and get everything set up for breakfast, get all the ovens and everything turned on. Then, I typically serve breakfast, then do some paperwork, help out where needed with getting things ready for lunch. After lunch, I do more paperwork, get everything organized and cleaned up for the next day.
What are your thoughts on the school and its students?
It’s a great school. The staff is great, and the students are great. I didn’t know what to think when I first started, if students would be friendly, not so friendly or what. But I would say, for the most part, everyone is polite and nice. It makes it a nice experience dealing with you guys.

What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is being with the students. I got to speak with the honors accounting class. My professional background is in accounting and finance, so I enjoyed going down and speaking to the students. I like interacting with the students, both in the lunchroom and at sporting events.
What is your favorite memory?
After I started, the kids were making their laps around the track out there, and I went out and ran a lap with them, trying to get their heart rates up.
What are your thoughts on the school and its students?
I love the school. My kids went to Blue Valley West, so I was familiar with the district. We moved here for the district actually. But the students, the staff, I enjoy them all.

What does your job entail?
I do everything. I fill the salad bar and fruit, open the cans and freeze vegetables. And I cook the pasta, rice, mac and cheese and scalloped potatoes.
What is the biggest challenge?
My challenge is that because I have two jobs, and I’m sometimes very tired. I’m working at Hen House. We came here, me and my family, we have a son. He goes to JCCC and the next semester, he is going to KU for pharmacy.
What are your thoughts on the school and its students?
I like all the students. You know, my family is small. Me and my wife just have one son, because almost 14 years ago, my wife was sick. And I like every kid, all kids, and I’m very, very happy that I see them
