This past weekend the Academic Decathlon team competed at K-State in the state-wide Academic Decathlon competition.
The team won 1st place in the small school division (there are two divisions, a large and a small), winning 1st for the second year in a row.
In addition, team members earned 75 individual medals competing in the following categories:
Speech, Essay, Interview, Social Studies, Math, Science, Music, Art, Economics, and Super Quiz. The theme, this year, was Russia. One Mortar Board student who was helping with the competition told Jacque Cork and Linda Collins that students seemed more like college students because they acted so mature.
Note: The team wants to thank Mrs. Pinto, Mr. Ortmann, and Mr. Scheppele for taking their own time to review team members prior to departure on Friday, and Mrs. Samazin, who sent food to keep the troops happy. Also, Hersh Ellis was supposed to go, but was ill , and Tristan Locke agreed to fill in for him at the last minute when one of their other team members could not go.
Cork and Collins are very proud of all of them and believe that all should be, also. They represented BVSW well. Please congratulate the following students when you see them:
Matara Hitchcock
Ethan Malone
Adam Samazin
