Gallery: Boys varsity basketball vs. Blue Valley Northwest

The boys varsity basketball team played Blue Valley Northwest in its last game of the regular season at home on Friday, Feb. 26

At the start of the game, the Timberwolves lost the tip off to the Huskies and BV Northwest scored the first. One minute later, senior Jackson Lazzo stole the ball and put BV Southwest in the lead. The ball went back and forth between BV Southwest and BV Northwest, but eventually senior Gage Maccoy scored with 25 seconds left in the first quarter. The score was 9-12.

By halftime, BV Southwest was in the lead and the score was 30-24 BV Southwest. With defensive skill, at the end of the third quarter, BV Southwest was still leading, although BV Northwest was closely trailing behind. With 2 minutes left in the last quarter, the score was tied 52-52. Senior Matt Wilkinson scored with 30 seconds left in the game. The Timberwolves fell to the Huskies with a score of 55-60.

The Timberwolves’ first game of the sub-state tournament is on Wednesday, March 2 versus Bonner Springs at Bonner Springs.
