Gallery: Girls varsity basketball vs. Blue Valley North

The girls varsity basketball team played Blue Valley North at home on Monday, Jan. 11, suffering a 53-58 defeat.

At the tip off, the Timberwolves lost the ball, but six minutes into the game, they gained possession and senior Cooper Courtney scored the first points of the game. After many minutes, BV Southwest got ahead and finished off the first quarter with a score of 17 to 7.

During the second quarter, BV North caught up to BV Southwest. With 30 seconds left, freshman Arielle Sargent scored. The final score was 26 to 25.

During the third quarter, freshman Kolbi Gonzales got a breakaway and scored, putting Southwest ahead by two points. Senior Rilynne Like scored twice, after getting the opportunity from a foul. The final score of the quarter was 41 to 39.

The Timberwolves ultimately fell to the mustangs with a final score of 53-58.

The team’s next game is Friday, Jan. 15 against Blue Valley High at 6pm.
