Up at 6a.m. every morning, Paul Grieco wakes up washes his face and gets ready for the day. After eating a wholesome breakfast, Paul hops into his car and drives to school. 7:45a.m. And Paul’s school day at school has started; he works hard in classes, and chats with friends and focuses on getting the best grades he can. After school Paul attends the after school weights class where he prepares himself for the grand finale of his day; wrestling practice. Practices start at 4 p.m. and can last until 6:30.
“I’m not the best right now, but I’m just going to keep on practicing so I can get really good,” Grieco said “I’m not really looking for it to be a career but possibly get a scholarship off of it or something. That’d be nice.”
Paul works hard in his pursuit of his wrestling goal, he doesn’t fall short when it comes to giving it his all during practices.
“Paul is a breathe of fresh air around here,” wrestling coach Cole Chapman said. “He’s a hard worker and when everybody else is down and doesn’t want to do work he’s always on time and ready to work, and he never complains.”
On top of working hard Paul also gets along well with his peers, especially his wrestling team.
“He’s a dirt bag, but in a good way, and he’s not a tool,” Tavon Alleyne said. “He’s different but pretty cool though, and he’s a really hard worker.”
When Paul isn’t at school or doing wrestling related things, he is continuing a sort of family tradition.
“My Dad started cooking when I was about five.” Grieco said. “He won American Royal twice so I have a lot to live up to. But if I ever do end up having kids, you know I won’t force them to cook, but I’ll keep them around it and see if they’ll like it and you know we’ll see if I can’t keep the tradition going.”
Paul has won many barbecuing competitions and it has earned the praise from his friends, family, and peers.
“Yeah, Paul’s cooking is nice, I mean its better then the stuff my own Dad cooks, and I love my Dad’s barbecue so you know he’s going somewhere with that,” Paul’s friend Grant Sparks said.
Paul is aware of the fact that people enjoy his barbecue, but there’s more to him than just his skill at the grill.
“Yeah trend starting his just my side-side job.” Paul said.
Paul’s other passion is starting trends. Self-admittedly Paul hasn’t had much success in getting people to catch on to his trends he likes to set out.
“I mean I’ve had a few, I think I got some people hooked on to cut off sleeves but side from that I’m still working on getting my stuff settled in that area,” Greico said. “But one of these days you know I’m going to wear something that everybody likes.”
Paul prides himself on working hard on everything he does and when he sets his mind toward something to go for it and never give up, this is something Paul’s family, friends, teachers, and colleagues have all noticed and despite what anybody says Paul is one-hundred percent satisfied with his life at this time.
“I’m not exactly sure what he [Paul] plans to do with his life, he hasn’t really decided what he wants to do with his life as far as a major in college and things of that nature, but if there’s one thing I can say its that what ever that boy puts his mind to, he will get it done,” Paul’s father Rob Grieco said. “Whether it’s a doctor, lawyer, or even an astronaut I am confident my son can get it done, and I’m proud of him for that.”
