The Timberwolves took on arch-rival Blue Valley High School on Tuesday night with hopes of redemption on their home court. The game was tight from the get-go. BV led at halftime by just three points, 21-18. The game would continue with every possession being crucial. At the end of the third quarter, the Tigers led by by two 30-28. The fourth quarter would continue on with both teams duking it out. The game was tied 32-32 with just several minutes remaining until sophomore Anthony Miller drew a foul to get to the line. Miller then sunk both his free throws putting the Timberwolves up by two, 34-32. Neither would score in the next few possessions. The Tigers then had the ball with under a minute to go and would decide to take the last shot. Senior point guard PJ Debey had the ball for the Tigers and with about 10 seconds left started driving to the right side of the lane and then controversy struck. The Timberwolves were called for a shooting foul of what many fans thought was a bad call as they booed at the ref. Shortly after Southwest’s attempt to make a foul on the floor, since they had fouls to give, Debey stepped to the line and missed first but then hit the second. The Tigers were up 35-34 leaving the Timberwolves with the ball with just five seconds left and that’s exactly how the nail-bitter game between the two ended.
