The Timberwolves narrowed the deficit down to just a touchdown in the fourth quarter with a score of 35-28 going into the final minutes of the game. One of the key plays of the game happened when Southwest brought on the pass rush on West’s quarterback, junior Devin Rose, which led to an interception by senior linebacker Brannon Poston.
The Timberwolves were able to string to together another touchdown drive, but the biggest play of the game came when Coach Bill Lowe made a gutsy call to go for two. It paid off after Ramsey threw a short pass to the front of the end zone to convert the two-point conversion, making the score 36-35.
With help of much support of the Southwest fans, the Timberwolves were able to shut down the Jags final shot to take back the lead with just over a minute to play. With the Timberwolves first matchup against West, it will certainly go down as a memorable first victory in the books.
