Blue Valley Robotics

Robotics. A little known team here in Blue Valley, that is slowly building up some steam. Robotics is a chance for these students to be in their element and learn different skill sets that could benefit them in college and later in life.

Thomas Gorham of BVNW joined Blue Valley Robotics to gain “tech experience and  learn how to work well in a group”. Robotics, meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 in the CAPS building, has been preparing their models in complex programs in anticipation of the season starting in January.

When the season starts in January, the team meets every day after school and on Saturdays for the majority of the day. Freshman Steven Blair of SW recommends joining because Robotics “offers the opportunity of learning to write code”. Blair appreciates the social element of the team and likes that it is challenging and engaging.

Southwest members include Freshman Abby Fry, Freshman Steven Blair, Junior Mathew Orzechowski, Junior Zach Tolar. Robotics is not for everyone though, it is a lot of hours and requires a degree of mathematics knowledge. It is widely recommended by all its members and, according to Junior Eric Osburn of NW, is “good hands on experience, without any judgement”.
