Academic Decathlon wins State for third year in a row

This weekend our students competed at K-State in the state-wide Academic Decathlon competition.
Our team won 1st place at state, bringing home the Champion trophy, in Division II, the medium school (much like 5A vs. 4A and 6A); This is the third year we have won 1st at State. The theme, this year, was World War 1.

In addition, our team members earned 75 individual medals competing by taking tests and performing in the following categories:

Speech, Essay, Interview, Social Studies (History of WW1), Math (Algebra and Trig), Science (Genetics), Music (of WW1), Art (of WW1), Economics, and Super Quiz. . Students remarked that the tests were some of the most difficult they have taken; they excelled in every content area, several times sweeping the medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in several subject areas.

Note: We want to thank Mrs. Pinto, and Dr. Jenson for taking their plan time to review content with our team members prior to our departure on Friday morning, and all the parents who sent food to keep the troops happy, including some delicious homemade pumpkin bread. Also, Sara Collins and Jack Fiorella agreed to fill in for us at the last minute when we were short of two team members.

We are very proud of all of them and you should be, also. They represented BVSW well. Please congratulate the following students when you see them:
