At the district tournament for 1st year debaters, 13 of the 17 medaling teams were from Southwest. BVSW was the only school with more than 1 undefeated team and those 8 teams included Jack Raybuck and Cole Nyfeller, Matt Wilkinson and Sam Horst, Rob Warner and Alex Martin, Sarah Towakoli and Sydney Fitchett, Jay Patel and Jack Fiorella, Ahrash Karbasi and Anarup Krishna, Will Charlesworth and Lauren Stone, and finally Zach Novicoff and Sam Super. Going 3-1 and also medaling were Reid Cross and Alex Ghekas, Zane Harvell and Cooper Courtney, Gabbi Miller and Anjali Pradeep, Adnan Islam and Corbett Oliver, and Justin Patterson and Patrick Cairns. The team had an overall record of 57-19 against the opposing district schools on Saturday.
At the varsity tournament, Jake Novicoff was the 8th speaker and Katie Super 2nd out of over 100 debaters. Katie and Tristan Locke finished 2nd overall, going 7-1 and earning a spot in the Coaches’ invitational this January. BVSW is now the highest ranked of the BV schools in KS and 3rd overall in the state.
