This year, juniors Sadie Lindstrom and Brendan McCarty were voted Homecoming prince and princess. They are part of the Homecoming court which is made up of 10 seniors nominated for king and queen and the two juniors who are prince and princess and is responsible for helping Homecoming week go smoothly. While being voted for these positions can come as a shock, McCarty said it can also be exciting.
“I was very nervous when [StuCo] first told me,” McCarty said. “It’s grown on me, the more I’ve talked about it and thought about it, it’s a cool opportunity.”
Lindstrom said it helped being nominated with someone she is familiar with.
“We know each other very well,” Lindstrom said. “He’s my boyfriend [and] we went to elementary school with each other.”
McCarty said he is looking forward to the festivities he will participate in on the night of Homecoming.
“[My favorite parts are] going and taking pictures, going to dinner [and] spending time with my friends and Sadie,” McCarty said.
While they both have not had a leading role in HoCo in the past, Lindstrom said she and McCarty are looking forward to being more involved.
“We had to meet once [in AST] and we are expected to be in a lot of the royalty events,” Lindstrom said.
Lindstrom said she is excited for the Homecoming dance.
“I’m definitely looking forward to the dance,” Lindstrom said. “I think the dance will be really fun.”
