All-American Rejects – Kids in the StreetsThe All-American Rejects are dropping their latest album, Kids in the Street, on March 26. Before it hits the CD racks on that day, I’ve taken a look at their opening tracks and I’ve got to say, this cd sounds kickin’. It brings back the classic All-American Rejects sound, but it has a new kind of soul. Opening with something more mellow than their usual upbeat tunes, it makes me want to roll down the windows, crank it up, and rant and rave about whoever is on my nerves. These songs have lyrics that are clear to the ear, easy to sing along to and drops a beat that gets the head bobbing. The songs I’ve heard have a little more of a negative tone than some of their upbeat and invigorating hits like “Move Along” or “Gives You Hell”. These songs are a little darker, and are maybe aimed towards those of us with a little pent up frustration with other people. Don’t let your little brothers and sisters tune into these tracks, content may not be suitable for younger ears. A little mild language and topic of song is a little on the risque side. While I trust that teenagers at a high school level have the maturity to handle it, you might not want your younger siblings following suit. All in all, I found myself wanting to feed these tracks to my iPod and put them on my Top Rated playlist. I found myself bobbing my head to the beat and trying my best to sing along. This CD is yet another example of Tyson Ritter’s vocal talent and the band’s overall chemistry and ability to bring musical hits right to our doorstep.
