emilyQ: What does a drum major do?

A: A drum major conducts in order to keep time for the band.

Q: Why do you like marching band?

A: It’s a really good place to meet friends. Everyone is really dedicated, and it’s fun to work toward a common goal.

Q: Can you share a band story?

A: One time on an overnight trip we were trying to go to bed and the last girl went to take a shower but there was a grasshopper in [the shower]. We called [former band director] Ms. Glaser in to exterminate the grasshopper in the middle of the night.

Q: How has this band season been different?

A: We did a lot better this season. Also, we got a creative director, but this show was a lot more intricate and had a lot more visual things.

Q: What do you like about this show?

A: It is really interesting, it is one of the more complex shows we have done because it actually has a story line. It is just really interesting to watch.

Q: How successful has the band been this season?

A: It’s been pretty incredible. We won first place overall at two of our competitions and second place at the other two. It has been the best we have ever done.

Q: How do you feel as the marching season has come to a close?

A: I feel really great. I’m sad that it’s over because I’m never going to come back and do it again, but it has been a really great season, and I’m glad I got to end on it.
