The Timberwolves took on the St. James Thunder on Oct. 15. Southwest got things going when senior Brannon Poston returned a kickoff for 70 yards.
The drive was capped off when sophomore Dylan O’Dell ran for a touchdown, but the Thunder responded right back with a touchdown of their own to tie the score at seven a piece.
Scoring proved to be no problem for the Timberwolves after crossing the end zone for the second time off of a 30-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Aaron Ramsey to Poston. Once again, the Thunder answered the call and tied the game to make the score 14-14. The next score of the game wouldn’t be until after an interception by sophomore Scott Anderson. The turnover led to a Ramsey touchdown after breaking through the line. At halftime the Timberwolves were on top 21-14.
St. James stormed out of the gates at the start of the second half with an 88-yard touchdown return to narrow the deficit to 21-20. On the Thunder’s next possession, the Timberwolves’ sophomore Jack Becker recovered a fumble. Junior Kyle Scheumann ended another Southwest score with a touchdown run of his own, the score was widened to 27-20 after a missed point after attempt.
The offense kept rolling after a 70-yard pass hookup from Ramsey to Anderson, but the Thunder made another drive and the score was 34-26.
Anderson would come up big with a 68-yard touchdown run, making the final score 42-26.
