In Southwest’s first football season, many people didn’t expect much out of the Timberwolves, but as the season progressed, they gave us all reason to have faith in them.
The team began the season with a four game losing streak but after upsetting West with a comeback, the season began to look brighter. Sure, they lost the next two games, but they competed well against two teams from the powerhouse EKL conference.
The Timberwolves ended the regular season by winning three out of their last five games and clinching a playoff berth. This team should be proud of themselves not only because they proved some people wrong, but because they’ve played every game with heart despite having a roster nearly half the size of other teams. My hat goes off to the players and the coaching staff.
This proves that things go beyond a team’s record. In this case, its laying down the foundation for a team’s program. Remember just how young this team is. We have so many talented sophomores, which gives me reason to believe that we’re only going to improve.
Finally, I’d have to say the biggest play of this season was going for two against West, a gutsy call that not only worked but set the tone that – we go for the win.
