Going to a new school and having to adapt to a new environment is never easy. But no one ever said it was going to be. It’s become pretty evident that some people came to this school with their minds made up that they were going back to their old school.
Leaving something behind and going back to what you can always depend on is nothing to be ashamed of. Just know before you do so, the regrets you may encounter after transferring back far outweigh the consequences of having to get use to a school that’s in the developing process.
Although I think the students who made it their decision to transfer to Southwest should be more to blame. You can’t tell me it’s not pathetic that some students went back after just the first three days. Yeah, they really gave this school a chance. It must have been a huge waste of time their parents and counselors. I guess those people probably weren’t meant to be a part of this special opportunity we’ve been offered here at this school. I mean, I’d say going to this school for six months would allow someone to make a fair judgement, but a few days? Give me a break. That’s like eating a piece of Italian bread and saying the whole country of Italy is disgusting ( I know not a good analogy, just a placeholder until I come up with a good one of my own).
It’s even worse when students who chose to go here left after just a few brief classes. So they spent all that time making a major decision that could play a crucial part in their high school experience. They chose not to stay and went back to a place that could guarantee them of knowing what it would the road ahead of them would look like. There’s no shame in going back to a place you’ve been devoted to for several years. Not being able to grasp onto change with a cleared head might give you something to think about though.
Everyone should be aware that it’s going to take some time to adjust. All great things have been a result of some form of preparation or another. Dynasties aren’t built overnight. Just look at the Chiefs. They’re on their way up, or at least they appear to be. The smiles on the fans around Kansas City are a result of the addition of the hiring of several quality coordinators and a pack of dynamic rookies.
Here at Southwest we have to build from the ground up. We have to be in this together for the long run. The truth is, people who came here just for the new thinprobably came here for the wrong reasons. If you had your mind made up that you were transferring back at semester ahead of time, then you’re not giving the school the fair chance it deserves.
I can promise you, going back to whatever school you came from doesn’t show your maturity- it weakens it. Taking the easy way out won’t allow you to grow as a person, it will make your life more difficult when you’re older.
