it’s a hot summer day. I’m sitting in the car with my friends driving around while the A/C is on full blast. I decide to turn on some music, but as I turn the dial the car is filled with an awful sound. Oh wait, it’s Miley Cyrus singing on the radio. Some of the music I hear these days drives me insane.
I get it, California “Gurls,” they’re unforgettable, nor does the party start ‘till Ke$ha walks in. Not to mention, this Justin Bieber craze is getting insane. Let me tell you one time, I don’t think he’s that great.
While some people may have been at his concert Wed. July 28, I was planning my trip to listen to a concert with a different style of music. A better style of music.
I was planning my trip to Warped Tour Twenty-Ten.
When I think about thousands of people, a hot summer day, loud music, and over 60 bands, I know I’m at Warped Tour. Warped goes across the U.S. and parts of Canada bringing a variety of bands with them. The beauty of it is, if I don’t like a band, I don’t have to listen to them. I can walk from one stage to another and watch any band I’d like. This years line-up had Alesansa, Emarosa, Pierce the Veil, Mayday Parade, The Cab, Four Year Strong, Motion City Soundtrack, Alkaline Trio, and others.
Monday Aug. 2nd, with a heat index of over 100 degrees, Warped was here at the Sandstone Amphitheater. That heat didn’t stop us determined fans from seeing our favorite bands. Good music is worth a sunburn.
The concert started at 11 A.M. and the last band started playing at 7:50 P.M. All the bands I saw were enthusiastic and I couldn’t help but sing and scream with them.
If you were to ask me my favorite band there, I’d say Pierce the Veil, hands down.
I recently started to get into their music, and hearing them live proved they don’t just rock in a studio, but live, too.
The band had an awesome connection with their audience. Each member added their own flair to each song, and the attention is always shared throughout the group. I loved listening to “Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides,” because it had a perfect combination of drums, guitar and vocals.
The extreme heat that kept me in constant need of water was a bit of a downside. However, that small problem didn’t even begin to take away from the overall experience. It was an absolutely outstanding concert that I recommend everyone see next summer. My reasoning is this; the party don’t start until you’ve seen Warped.
